I was looking for inspiration yesterday to write another song for my new CD. I decided to look for a random article on Wikipedia, just to see if it sparked any ideas.

Well, one of the article highlights on the first page was an entry about the French folk song, Au Clair de la Lune. I suddenly thought it would be really neat to rework that melody and to kind of ,,loosely translate,, those lyrics into something more modern.

I also slightly modified the chords under the melody, crafting a really tasty little ballad. I,,m excited about it, and I am looking forward to recording this one. I,,m not sure if it will make the CD, but I hope so.

In the secret moonlight, little can be seen
Nature celebrating, in a midnight dream.
From my higher window, this is what I saw:
Closed the door behind them, curtains then were drawn.

This is a story we can all relate to,, and it was written to fit a message on the ,,Prodigal Son,, for church last Sunday.

I hope to put it on my next CD.

Great Time at Buchannan Park Coffee House

I really enjoyed singing at the coffee house Saturday night.

I did some things a little differently, in the hope of making it as entertaining as possible for people. There were slides throughout the songs, and my friend Jenn Lewis played cello on them as well.

We also had a "make up a song" time where audience members called out topics, keys, and other information and I wrote a song on the spot.

Thanks to everyone who came. I hope I see you on the 12th (in 3 days) at the Freeway Coffee Pub downtown. I expect to have percussion along with cello and maybe even some other suprises!

Man, can't believe the response I've been getting from people about tee-shirts, here on My Space! You all seem to love the idea of having the train locomotive logo on a shirt!

So I PaintShop'd this photo to get an idea of what it would look like, and I sent a few links out to people who said they definitely wanted one. In that time, about 12 hours, I've already sold four!! I had sold two in the first hour!

Hamilton's Best Valentines Party Current mood: amused Category: Parties and Nightlife

Every year (for the past six years) we put on this big show, called "Hamilton's Best Valentines Party." In the past we've done themes like:

"Best 70's Songs"
"Best 80's Songs"
"Top Love Songs"
"Top Canadian Songs"
etc.

This year the theme is Top Movie Songs, and we're doing stuff like Eye of the Tiger, Mission Impossible, Stand By Me, etc.

We have a full band, with piano, drums, bass, guitars, keyboard, strings (violins and cellos), horns, etc.

SO WHY AM I TELLING YOU THIS?

Well, I arrange all the music for the band and vocalists, and perform as well. (It's part of my job at the church I work for). I have a couple of tickets left, and thought you might be interested in coming to sit at my table. You can hear me play piano and sing, and I'll come chat with you after the show. (All the tickets are sold out for this night except for 5.)

It's awesome-- the dessert's are fantastic, the music is amazing, the lights and sound are perfect. You'll have a blast... there's comedy, etc.

Here's last years show as a promotional-- you'll see me singing a "Neil Young" song... it's a riot!

I have been wanting to do this for a looonnnggg time, and finally was able to make it a reality. I found a bunch of stock video of trains and steam engines, combined it with the live video from when I was on TV, and used the music from the CD, 12 Girlfriends. This was a bit of a challenge, because I sang it live on TV at a faster tempo than is on the CD... I had to keep cutting to locomotives in order to hide the fact that my lips aren't syncronized... it works most of the time. :)
