Brand new EP online now! Current mood: accomplished Category: Music

After eight long months of recording, tweeking, recording some more and tweeking a little bit more, we have finally finished our fourth EP 'IV'.

The tracks are online now for your listening pleasure, and we could'nt be any prouder of our efforts. Please have a listen, add them to your page and download the mp3s to share with your friends. If you have a Myspace account, make sure you leave us a comment.

You will also notice our new look Myspace page. For the time being, Myspace will be our home until I get round to developing a new website!

Rider reach regional finals of Metro/Island records BoTB

It seems that every time I add an entry into this blog lately I seem to be talking about another competition that we have entered...so ill continue that tradition!

Rider have been shortlisted from thousands of bands by Island Records & Metro newspaper to play the regional final of their Battle of The Bands competition.

This Monday we will travel to Cardiff Barfly to perform alongside four other bands in a bid to support MOBO award winning artiste VV Brown on her UK tour this November, and to win a recording session and digital release through Island Records.

If we fail to move on into the grand final we wont be too dissapointed, as this is a fantastic chance to play in front of an Island Records representative; something that not many bands get the chance to do.

If you do live in or around the Cardiff area, please come along to the Cardiff Barfly on Mon 28th Sept and give us your vote.

Rider - winners of Ben Sherman Guilfest competition Category: Music

So...a few weeks ago, Aaron entered us into a competition through Ben Sherman.com to play the Guilfest music festival.

Then out of the blue this tuesday we got an email asking for details and pics of the band to go on Ben Sherman.com website as we were winners of the competition.

After some frantic ringing around, it turns out an email from Guilfest festival went missing informing us we had won the competition.

Rider were picked out of thousands of bands who entered the competition, and our prize is to play the Ben Sherman Live Club Stage at this years Guilfest, alongside the likes of Motorhead, The Charlatons, Joe Bonnamassa, Brian Wilson and loads more.

We are obviously well chuffed. If you are heading to the festival in Surrey, then please check us out on the Sunday at 12:00pm, where will will be sporting some free Ben Sherman clothing :-)

New website coming soon

Hi,

You'll probably have noticed that you have ended up here rather than our usual website...well thats because we are working behind the scenes on a brand new website for the band. Were hoping the new website will help us keep you informed of all the latest news from the band a lot quicker than it is at the moment.

We will also be introducing a 'members only' area of the website, to allow registered users access to download our forthcoming EP release.

On that note...the new EP is coming along well, and should be ready in the next couple of months.

Where have we been?! Current mood: anxious

Rider have been off the radar a little lately; not because we have been
sitting at home with our feet up, but because we have been polishing
off the writing for our new four track EP.

So far things are going well, and we started recording a couple of weeks ago. We are really confident that these new tracks are yet another step up for the band.

We also have a few gigs on the horizon, the first of which at The Litten Tree on 19th March in Coventry.

Gigs & Studio dates

Rider have been a little quiet recently, mainly due to holidays and a little bit of trying to re-assess where we are with all things 'Rider' related.

It gets quite tough continually slogging away as a band and seeing little reward for your efforts...the skinny jeans revolution seems to be dragging on a little longer than expected, so we had two choices:

1. Nip down to Topman, kit ourselves out in some new slacks and buy some new slightly too short guitar straps

or

2. Sit it out, have some faith in what were doing, and in the meantime make sure were the best at what were doing.

With that in mind, Rider will be hitting the studio once more this coming December to record two or three brand new tracks.

What next...well we plan to take a close look at all 13 tracks to date, tweek them a little more and re-record the whole lot for what will be the first 'Rider' album. (I think it might be a little bit of a Chinese Democracy affair!)

We do have another new live show lined up at Escape in Coventry on Dec 2nd. We last played here about 8 months ago, and its a great live venue with a great sound, so we hope we will see some people down there giving their support.
